Role of the family doctor in the dermatology field in rural attention
Resumo
Introduction: Dermatological complaints, that correspond to approximately 30 % of demand in a Primary Care service, justifies the actions of the specialist in Family Medicine and Community ( MFC ) in the dermatology field, dominating the clinical and surgical management of frequent skin disorders as well as giving the correct destination for the most complex cases.
Objective: To report the experience of the specialist physician in Family Medicine and Community in the field of dermatology, as well as the impact on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders in a rural conty of Brazil.
Methodology or experience description: The importance of medical specialist in family medicine and community in the management of dermatological diseases is the fact that the Family Health Strategy (ESF) is a model of reorienting health care in Brazil and this is professional at the entrance of the public health system (SUS). In the case we report the experience of the performance of specialist in MFC and postgraduate degree in dermatology, in care of the municipality of São Miguel da Boa Vista, in the state of Santa Catarina, with about 1972 inhabitants Between the years 2011 and 2012.
Results: 1342 attendances first consultation were conducted between the years 2011 and 2012, of which 212 calls were related to dermatological complaints that could generate demand for care specialist. However only 2 cases required referral to the dermatology service outside the county because it was skin cancer lesions that needed healing and reconstructive surgery that could not be done in the outpatient unit of EFS. 210 Other cases could be solved in the health unit of the municipality.
Conclusions or Hypothesis: The role of the family doctor in the dermatology field can be effective to increase the resolution of global demand in the primary care service and reduce the number of referrals to specialist dermatology services. The resoluteness in a rural and remote from large centers is crucial to the better management of human, material and financial resources available within the framework of public health.
